I've been nominated for an award!

I'm very excited to be nominated for my first ever One Voice Award in the Telephony/IVR Best Overall Performance Category. It's nice to be recognised for one of the less glamorous areas of voice over, phone systems!

This particular client has developed an artificially intelligent digital host voiced by yours truly. So when people phone up to book a table they can ask "me" all sorts of questions and *hopefully* I will know the answers! I was recently informed that customers keep trying to ask me out. Apparently my response is "we have a full range of drinks available at the bar" ;) 🍹🍷🍺🍸

A lot has changed in my world since September 2019 when everyone in the company I worked for was made redundant unexpectedly. For me personally it was the best thing that could have happened. Though I miss the lovely people I worked with and am grateful for the job that got me on the housing ladder, my heart wasn't really in it. I've accomplished more in those five months than I did in the years I was trying to juggle three careers simultaneously.

There is truth to the adage of "chase two rabbits & they both get away". I just didn't have the time or the energy to treat Voice Over like a proper business. It became more like a hobby I'd occasionally make money from rather than the long-term career I wanted it to be. Perhaps I was also holding myself back because I was scared of the uncertainty of working in The Arts & being completely self employed? I was afraid to make that leap of faith.

Well sometimes circumstances choose for you & I'm very grateful they did. I've still got a long way to go but for the first time in a long time I'm making progress & excited about what the future holds.
